GMO and the 4 Types of Food that May Be Harmful to Your Health

It’s an unnatural process that had well-meaning intentions in the beginning: to develop pest-resistant crops. But believes that organic agriculture is the best way to preserve the planet, protect people, and all cultures.

Today, GMOs allow food manufacturers to create bigger fruits and vegetables and more livestock to sell. The process could also produce tastier food. At the same time, however, genetic engineering could also reduce nutrients, increase toxicity, and lead to allergies. The unnatural continues to disguise its harmful effects in the following food:

1. Canola Oil

It is one of the most chemically-altered food. Rapeseed goes through a series of chemical processes before it becomes the cooking oil filled with poisonous chemicals. Reusing this oil can be detrimental over time.

2. Dairy Products

Unless the milk came from free-range animals, dairy products might contain added hormones that can hasten physical maturity in children. Industrial farmers use hormones on cows so they can create more milk or grow meatier parts.

3. Sugar and Aspartame

Sugar beets have been genetically modified to resist a specific herbicide. The GMOs in sugar beets carry into the process of creating sugar and reaching the end user. Aspartame is artificial sugar, made from genetically modified bacteria.

4. Corn and Soy

Cornflakes, corn chips, corn starch, corn syrup, and any kind of food derived from corn may be genetically modified and poisonous. And for the vegetarians, soy may not be your savior after all. Ninety percent of soy farms are from GMOs to be herbicide resistant.

Now, there are still some types of food that do not depend on genetic engineering. It’s important to check the label before you buy products in the supermarket. And when in doubt, always stick with organic ingredients.
